Try a Triathlon or Duathlon in 2015

Today we are revisiting great moments in Triathlons and Duathlons to tempt you to add something new to your race goals for 2015. And, we are giving away a tri or du event registration this week in comments below!

Many in the HMF community are hesitant to expand outside running – until their first multi-sport race experience.  If you’re unsure about it, a great way to introduce yourself to triathlons and duathlons is to participant in one as part of a team.  Our multi-sport races also offer options to combine two parts of the event so you can start with what you're most comfortable, observe the transitions and talk to participants after the race before taking it on solo.

The line-up for 2015 has a lot to offer for various experience levels.  Get a glimpse of the HMF duathlon and triathlon experience in these photos to learn more and comment below on why you already love multi-sport races or why you want to try one in 2015:

Ten Penny Ale Shamrock Duathlon & 3.3 Mile Run (Glastonbury), Sunday May 17

Litchfield Hills Olympic Triathlon (and Duathlon and AquabIke), Sunday, July 19

  1. The camaraderie of multi-sport races is amazing. The transition area reminds me of tailgating, lots of good energy and excitement. HMF events are always top notch.

  3. I would love to do the women's triathlon, it's one event that I've been wanting to do. I think it would be a good tri to be my first, since I'd be with all women and not feel overwhelmed by the male competitors!

  6. The women's triathlon is an amazing experience. I love that there are women of all ages, shapes, abilities and experience providing a competitive and yet very supportive race. It is a great first triathlon experience in a non-threatening environment with a great after party.

  10. I started running April 2014. 3 weeks later, I did my first race, the Shamrock 3.3. I placed in my age group, surprisingly, with 30 minutes. I am excited to see how much faster I can run the race this year too see how much I have improved in a year! Goal will be sub 25!

  12. The women's tri is such a great event. The bracelets you gave out this year were the best medal I have ever received. Can't wait to do this one again.

  14. I started swim and bike cross-training as a way to get fewer injuries from running, then tried a triathlon and fell in love. And so far, I've never been injured during triathlon season!

  15. I did my first Duathalon last year and can't wait to 'DU' it again! Shamrock was fun and challenging (The Neipsic hill is a BEAST!) I can't wait to tack on the swim portion and participate in the Women's Tri next year.

  16. I am looking forward to the Ten Penny Duathlon. Between injuries and bad timing the last few years, I've been unable to do it. I have planned my 2015 spring marathon so that I am recovered for Ten Penny. :)

  18. I love multi-sport races because they remind me that I am alive. The thrill of the starting gun is second-to-none! And who doesn't love a little "burning leg" feeling added in the mix?
