2015 Race Season Countdown is ON!

We’re counting down to open registration for 2015 events this Friday!  Everyday this week, we will highlight a group of 2014 events in photo slideshows to help spark your race-day memories and show those looking for some new experiences and challenges what HMF has to offer. We will give away a FREE registration to someone who comments on the blog (below) this week.

Today – we’re talking multi-distance events and our big announcement – the new CTfastrak 15K and Relay on Sunday, May 3!  This race will run along the smooth new bus route from New Britain to Hartford and offer 2 or 3 race legs for running with a team or the 15K for those going it solo.  Details will be posted soon – mark your calendars!  We're also working on a new half marathon in southeast CT for June 28, stay tuned in January for details.

The Harvard Pilgrim Middletown Half Marathon and Legends 4-Mile is coming back for it’s second year in downtown Middletown on Sunday, April 12.  Check out highlights from last year’s inaugural run:

The typically sold-out Amica Iron Horse Half Marathon, 10K and 5K will run through the gorgeous town of Simsbury on Sunday, June 7. Don’t wait to register for this one!   Enjoy race photos from 2014:

The Old Wethersfield 5K and 10K is a great PR opportunity, flat and fast with serene surroundings.  This year’s race will be Sunday, August 23.  Check out last year's highlights:

And last but certainly not least, another runner favorite that typically sells out in advance, the Surftown Half Marathon and 5K in Westerly, RI, offers the best ocean views, quaint beach roads and a blast of a post-race party!  Sunday, September 13 - it’s on in 2015!

Comment below on which of these events you'd like to win free registration to and why, and please make sure you include your name in the comment! One randomly selected person will win just for commenting - you can submit your comment anytime until 11:59 pm Friday, 12/19.  Check back tomorrow for another day of race recap and giveaway.

  1. One of the very best locations for a half! We've raced in every Surftown half! Best wishes for many more races in the future!

  10. 2014 restarted my running obsession. One of the best things I did was volunteer at almost every HMF race I ran. It was almost as much fun as my PRs at the races. Almost. Can't wait to see what 2015 holds!

  13. I would absolutely love to run the scenic Amica Iron Horse Half Marathon!! After running the Hartford Half Marathon for the first time this past October, I know the HMF knows how to put on a race! The rain did nothing to dampen the dispositions of the fabulous volunteers or the post-race amenities/activities. Cheers to making 2015 another year of HMF racing and fun!

  14. The race that I am really looking forward to in 2015 is the Amica Iron Horse. It was my first half and holds a special place in my heart. I had to pull out of this race last year due to hip tendonitis so I am especially focused on staying healthy for this June race!

  28. I'd love to win an entry to Surftown in 2015! I was signed up to run the half in 2014 but I was sidelined due to a foot injury. Instead I signed up to volunteer and had such a great time cheering on all the 5k and half marathon participants. I'd love to make a return this coming year and take it on as I had originally planned to! - Kathleen Lafferty

  29. I would love to win an entry to the Harvard Pilgrim Middletown Half Marathon. I was supposed to run my first full marathon this year in Hartford but was too ill and had to pull out. My training took a hit because I was unable to run for over a month. I am just working my way back now and I think Middletown would be the perfect place for my first half marathon of the year in my training for my first full in Hartford in 2015 -- Alice Bishop

  47. I'm so excited to see the CT Fastrack race. It inspires me to step up my "winter" training so I can be ready to make the jump from running 5Ks in 2014 to the 4 miler (in Middletown) to 9+ miles at the top of my running season. My longest run in practice to date has been only 8.2 miles. I'm nervously excited! Perhaps I can win a registration to CT Fastrack to ensure I don't get nervous and back out.

  48. The idea of a brand new race is music to an athlete's ears! I would love an entry to the CT Fastrak15K.
